This Month at the Casa
| St. Francis Xavier St. Francis Xavier was Dom Inacio's close friend and collaborator. Xavier was also a co-founder of the Company of Jesus (Jesuits). He took on the task of bringing the Jesuit's teachings to India and the orient. He spent many years in Goa India where most of his mortal remains are entumbed. (A relic of one of his arms is in Rome near the St. Ignatius Sepulcre. St. Francis Xavier visits the casa often and he is known for his discipline and strength during his incorporations. From the 4th through the 12th of March Spiritists and Catholics alike pray a Novena to St. Francis Xavier. |
A Novena is a traditional christian prayer ritual done in anticipation of the celebration date for a particular saint. During nine days sometime before the day of the saint's celebration the faithful recite prayers asking for a paticular grace from the saint of their devotion or thanking the saintg for a grace they received. The casa de Dom Inacio gives out little flyers with the prayers for the Novena to St. Ignatius and St. Francis Xavier to the participants who attend the casa on the appropriate dates before St. Ignatius' and S. Francis Xavier's anniversaries. During the rosary prayers at the casa the Novena's are recited also during the appropriate dates.
| Easter Easter is the holiday of the resurrection. Although the casa does not have any specific celebration to commemorate Easter. Sometimes a priest is invited to celebrate mass in the main hall at the casa. The energy in the currents rooms is usually sublime. It is a time for many spiritual victories and transformations. Much of Brazil celebrates easter with the usual mix of egg hunts, chocolate bunnies and religious practice and often the spirital significance of the celebration is lost in a flurry of social exchanges. Perhaps it is for this reason that the entities of the casa choose to just pray in current during this week instead of diluting the spiritual energy with worldly celebrations. |
